Hello!

Hey everyone.

I'm pretty new to sailing. I've sailed a sunfish a couple of times but that was 5 years ago. I've been reading everything sailing-related I can get my hands on and am getting anxious to get out on the water.

I've been cruising craigslist for a nice small sailboat that will serve as a good beginner tool. I am looking at used Hobies, Sunfish and Lasers. I'm still in college and don't have much money to spend on a boat.

What do you guys think will be a good boat to learn on. I would be sailing inland lakes mostly. I really want to start developing some skills that could someday translate to blue water sailing when I have a job that pays more than 9 dollars an hour.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome! And great name!

Just about any small boat you could get your hands on would do for learning; you've listed some good ones there that are fun and widely available on the used market. Where are you located?

Ahh, the Southern part of Heaven. Loved my four years in Chapel Hill! (And I'll be there tomorrow for the basketball game.)

We're about 2 hours east in Washington, NC on the Pamlico River. Stop by if you're ever in the area!

Haha right on. I'm working for the first half of the game but plan on catching the rest at a bar. Stop by the station, first beer is on me!

Also do you happen to know any other classifieds apart from craiglist?
