New on board
Seems like an active group judging from the postings. Been looking forward to getting into sailing for some time, but spouse not a "boat person". A friend had a 30 catalina for sail at a very attractive price in a down market, and after a few visits on it the wife thought it worth a try. Not at all like her prior boating experiances on small outboards as a youngster. So some classes later and in our second season, she still goes out with me! Active with boats in my early years, now the kids grown, time to do something for me. Friend said I could buy her boat if I took her sailing, and she wanted someone who would treat her (the boat) right. Right place at the right time. Turnkey no brainer, even came with a slip and beer in the cooler!
Congrats on getting back into sailing! I'm sure you'll find SailNet to be a great resource in many, many ways.
I see you from Connecticut. As you probably discovered during last season, Long Island Sound (and the surrounding area) offers some great sailing and plenty of interesting destination ports too (my wife enjoys visiting the different harbors & towns more than sailing around to get to them). We try and get out to Block Island every summer for a week although we usually avoid Race Week and VJ Day weekend since it's just a little too crazy out there (with the 1000+ boats in the Great Salt Pond) during those periods.
For now, at least the days are getting longer, so it won't be too much longer before we'll be back out on the water! Hopefully our mild winter (so far) will indicate warm "boat prep" weather for April!
