bestdeal080 is on a distinguished road
Ahoy!

Hi, I am an old retired sailor who misses the open sea and the freedom of sailing.
My last name is deal and I am 80. So my login name speaks volumes. We had our boat for 20 years in Texas and Florida having sailed her across, not around the edge, of the Gulf of Mexico in January of 1984. That was the year most of the citrus froze in Florida and we were blamed for bringing the cold. Actually the norwester that blew us to Sarasota brought it. In Texas a stormy wind like that is called appropriately a "Blue Norther". We were blue for a few of the seven days, but were dressed warm enough to stand watch and then go below to the heated cabin. I miss sailing and just sitting at anchor in some nice cove watching the birds nest and then listening to the sounds of silence.
So I found this site and decided to stay awhile a chat with anybody I found I could relate to.
I am Bob

Cool deal Bob, glad to see you here!

I agree sitting in some quiet cove at anchor for the night, with the beautiful starry night sky, maybe some noctoluminescent clouds; it's really a calm and wonderful place to be.

Welcome to SailNet Bob, with your experience sounds like
you can contribute a "good deal" here. Check out a few of the
threads here that have spectacular pictures posted by many of
the members.
If you ever come up to Long Island you will have a berth with us,
but you'll have to leave the "Blue Norther" back home!
