I've been lurking around the forums for probably a bit over a year at this point. At that point my wife was interested in learning to sail, and I thought it was too slow and boring. However, since I didn't think you could really sail alone I got us both lessons with Offshore Sailing in Jersey City (NY / Hudson bay). It was a great place to learn, and 10 minutes away from Hoboken, NJ where we live.
Everyone knows what happens at this point!

Yep, I found sailing quite fun and it became our new hobby / passion. We joined the club and got out a half a dozen times or so last year. The Hudson is quite interesting and challenging with all the traffic and versatile conditions, so we got some real good experience in very little time.
At this point we're just biding our time till we can find a way to get back into the water. We're looking at moving to the Holmdel / Middletown area of NJ so that our 2yr old son can have a place to run around in. This means that we won't be joining our Offshore Sailing friends next year, and I'm in search of a new club for now. Such is our sailing live and experience, just off KeelBoat cert, and a couple of sailing trips on our own.
Reading online forums gives you lots of knowledge, but putting that knowledge to use is the only way to learn. Thanks for all the tips, techniques, and advice I've read thus far. I'm looking forward to many years of sailing and discussing the sport with all of you.
