Hi from BC

Hi there,

I've been using this site for quite awhile now (upwards about two years) to help me learn all about the basics, and have finally decided to join.

My name is Stu(art), Im 26 and live in BC, Canada. I first stepped foot on a sailboat (well, a motor-sailor MacGregor) about three years ago and was hooked from day one. I was pretty relunctant to even step foot on one at the time because I thought it was going to be 'boring' and 'dull'. I couldn't have been more wrong and only wish I learned to sail when I was much younger (well in my teens) so I would know what to do with my life, and not get a pilots license as well go to college twice to figure out what I thought I wanted to do!

I've spend most of my sailing time learning on a Hobbie wave we bought my father for his birthday a few years back. That is a great little pleasure cat and great for learning the basics on (though Im still learning the very basics and feel anxious about taking it out in some weather). As much as I love winter and snow though, for the past couple years I've been looking foreward to spring so I can go out for the first sail of the year and that is only about a month away!

I had that strategy, too, as a kid: Buy gifts for my parents that I really wanted.

Re: Hi from BC

Thanks everyone!
I live in Invermere (just on the BC - Alberta border), but head back west to the Okanagan (just south of Penticton) during the summer to visit family and practise basic sailing.

Hey, another homeboy! Welcome.

Smell the sea and feel the sky.
Let your soul and spirit fly,
As we sailed into the mystic.
