Hello everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself. My wife and I have been sailing for 10 years now, first on Lake Norman in NC and now on the Chesapeake Bay. We've moved up from a Flying a Beneteau a Hunter 28.5...and we currently just purchased a Lippincott 30. We're based out of Regent Point Marina on the Rappahannock River, and have been enjoying sailing the Bay. Due to work commitments, we primarily get to daysail and take overnighter type trips, but will hopefully get to take some longer trips with the new boat. Since we just bought the boat in Rock Hall, MD, our first trip with her will be down the Bay...should be interesting.

Welcome aboard!

There is a very active group of SailNetters on the Chesapeake, mostly in the mid Bay but some lower Bay folks as well (as well as a few of us that regularly cover just about the whole Bay). There is a section here on SailNet focused on the Bay: see Chesapeake Bay - SailNet Community .

sail fast and eat well, dave

Re: New member from Virginia

I bought my Catalina 34 in Rock Hall 2 years ago and brought it to our marina on the Yeocomico River off the Lower Potomac. We made the trip in one day - leaving Rock Hall at 6am and getting to our marina at 7:30 that evening.
Unless you want to sail at night, you will need two days to make it to Regent Point. I'd suggest making your first day to Solomon's and the second day to Regent Point.
Good luck with your trip.
