Pushing off from the land lubber lifestyle

Hi everyone!

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to the wonderful SailNet community. I am in the process of making the transition we're all to familiar with -- downsizing, simplifying and moving to a life on water!

My wife and I are in the process of buying a 1973 33' Morgan Out Islander that has been taken well care of here in San Diego. She is a bit older but I think she'll make a great first boat and help us get our sailing skills developed. I hear the Morgans can be slower compared to most sailboats, but the trade off is a comfortable cruise.

SailNet has really helped me learn a lot about this lifestyle and I can't wait to begin sharing my stories!

Greetings & welcome, My wife and I lived aboard a 1973 Morgan Out Island from 1973 to 1985. Please note that it is not an Out "Islander". There is an Islander vessel, but that is a totally different boat. When our children were 7 & 5 we found we needed more space so we moved aboard a 1973 41' Out Island that we are still aboard.
