PDX Sailing.

Hi all--
I bought a 30 ft Islander about 8 or 9 months ago in the Columbia river. I had experience working on a commercial fishing boat a couple of seasons, but very limited sailing experience (some cruising, only a handful of races). The Columbia is a fun stretch of water so far. I'm planning a couple of small trip Government Island, Sauvie Island, etc.

Anyone else in the PDX area who wants to do some sailing this summer?

Have a good season!

Re: PDX Sailing.

Brent,
I'm glad you bought an Islander, I took my first sailing classes on the columbia about a year ago and loved it. I'm now searching for boats to buy and I've narrowed it down to an islander 28/30 something small and roomy to live off of. I'm heading up to seattle to look at one this week if I can. I am brand new to sailing...like BRAND new. Since you own an Islander do you have any recommendations for me when I go look at this boat? Otherwise feel free to let me know if you want to go sailing sometime. Just remember I'm new.

Rep the 503!!

I'd love to sail with you but I'm moved on to "greener pastures". I might make a trip back this winter though.

Watch out for the sand bars.
