Hello Again (needs 10 posts)

Though not so active on the forum, I have remained pretty active with the sailing. Just switched ships again, moved to a Balboa 8.2 which was sold as a Balboa 26, hehe, awesome catch from the guys on the B26 yahoo group.

I am currently staying on Jordan Lake (NC) for a while till I have everything tweaked right, actually that's just a nice way of saying fixing a bunch of broke ****.

I am taking in water through the shaft, and the water intake for the engine cooling, not much, probably a few gallons an hour at most.

My traveler has popped the head of its' center screw, which from the looks of the sun damage, it had spent its' entire life living in the center.

Some wiring needs redone, non of the mast mounted lights work, although I am testing positive voltage at the base of the mast.

Raising the mast on the beast has proven to be a bigger task than I originally thought, on my previous vessel, an RK20 (Balboa 20/Ensenada 20), we could have her in the water within 20 minutes of pulling up, now its taking more like an hour.

Oh, big one here, the swing daggerboard (boat has a shoal draft as well) is rusted in place.

Pretty much, sailable, but not going in the ocean just yet. Does anyone here know of other Balboa 8.2/27 owners? Any tips on fixing any of my issues?

I think it prudent to prioritize . Water coming into the boat should be number 1 on your list as it's obviously time to repack your Stuffing Box.

Good point TC, that's definitely high on the list. After writing this I remembered like 20 other things that need done, but I think I covered the major ones. Anyone here have good mast raising rigs? I want to keep everything in the rig as minimal as possible (less stuff to carry around).

Curious what solution you found to your rusted swing keel? I always feared having to remove mine at some point, it looked complicated.
