New to Sailing

Hello All,

I've loved the water my whole life and had the opportunity to go sailing a little boat about two years ago. Ever since then I have wanted to take it to the next level. My wife and I will hopefully be signing up for a weekend sailing course this month at the manhattan sailing school.

I (the husband) am very interested in the live aboard situation that I have been reading so much about. It would help a lot with the other half if we had opportunities to talk with people who are actually doing it in our area.

Looking forward to hearing from other sailors in our area and in general!!

Re: New to Sailing

Welcome aboard. Good luck with your research. I think you guys are amazing to consider living aboard in the frigid north. Manhattan no less... Many pick a more cooperative climate for their live aboard experience.

It's not our preferred choice, but we are young and have our careers to think about. I'm willing to give mine up, but the wife just started in her chosen field.

Re: New to Sailing

Living aboard in manhattan is arguably cheaper than living in manhattan.

And definitely cooler than living in friggin' bayonnne.

give CalebD a pm here- he is a hudson river local with kinda a cool vibe. he might be able to help. bubb2 and bene505 are also 914/516ish, so might be able to offer some input. but they are old and curmudgeonly, so it'll be like talking to your parents.

I am now in soooooooo much trouble.

It's 5 o'clock somewhere:
