Glad to find so many fellow sailor's. Me-Retired and wanting to full-fill life long desire. Sail Florida Keys and Bahamas. Close to closeing deal on 1984, O day 28 in great condition. Looking for input and ideas regarding power generation. Solar, wind or motor. Ideas and experience welcome.

Welcome to sailnut.

A number of members here can help you with questions about cruising the Keys, Bahamas and your other areas of interest.

O'Day made several different versions of the 28'. Which one do you have?

Re: New member

Thanks CalebD,
Will have to do some checking to find out exact model. She seems a fine craft. I look forward to sailing her with present owner. If all works out she will change hands. Talking to those ahead of me is a great idea. I will need guidance on this adventure.

Re: New member

Hey, welcome! Congrats on the upcoming deal. You'll have to tell us more about your lifestyle and priorities before we can comment on power. (For example, if you like to watch movies or surf the 'net, your needs will be different than if your entertainment is reading paper books). Do you need refrigeration/freezer and microwave, or are you a beans-and-rice-and-whatever-fish-I-catch kinda person? Etc, etc. That said, we did the Bahamas for 3 months, 2 people in a 33-footer, with 2 65-watt solar panels and no wind power and no generator, and loved every minute of it (even the gales and anchor dragging at 3 AM)
