Gathering Information from Western Mass.

Hi everyone, My name is Bill O'Connor, and while kayaking on the Connecticut River, I watched a man sail up it, towards me. Too cool. Really want to do this. So far no luck with instruction way out here in western Massachusetts, so, going to do what I can on my own. This looks like a great site.

"going to do what I can on my own."
Check with the American Red Cross or look for other sources of a dinghy sailing program. No, sailing a little boat isn't the same as sailing a big one, but there's nothing that matches hands-on experience. Sailing books, videos, just aren't the same, you need to get your butt in a boat and see how it moves.
Taxachussetts isn't THAT big a state, in the worst case you can find lessons on the coast that require 3 days split over two weekends, and make the drive. Books, nice. But just not the same as getting out on a boat.
