New sailor in Murrieta, CA

I'm in Murrieta, CA and am in the process of getting a late 70's boat and learn to sail. It is an 18' Sea Crown. I am looking for someone in this area to help get our family started down the sailing path. It seems like it will be incredibly fun to learn.

Re: New sailor in Murrieta, CA

Why not try lessons, first? Boats are a serious investment both in terms of time and money. Plus there's the issue of safety. Before you begin with a purchase i would take a huge step back and learn all i could...on othre peoples boats.

Re: New sailor in Murrieta, CA

that was the same advice I was given, but as I did with golf couldn't wait jumped right in, but had some experienced help to start. take the advice, get lessons and make it safer and more enjoyable from the start.

Re: New sailovr in Murrieta, CA

I have been down to San Diego a few times and rented the small boats in the Harbor already, and have been reading everything I can about sailing. I believe for the price, this will be a great starter boat. Only plan on lake and Harbor sailing until I get lots of experience.
