Risky Business

No, that's not the name of any boat I'd own...but then, I still can't fess up to owning any boats. That said, in the last few weeks I've been charged with restoring a couple: forget the aquasport (unless it becomes the first sail-powered model); the interesting vessel is the Prestige 36. Australian-built, S&S design, it was built in '83, one of a dozen or so custom one-offs. Interesting both above and below, and as far as I know there are only two in the U.S. (several of the others are still active, based back in OZ). Given the depression, this, like many boats out there, has seen almost no use in the last couple of years. Many a project ahead -- not least because her previous owners never seem to find the time or money to finish off the interior or, in fact, parts of the rig. But being Australian, she's a very well-built lass, and with luck and a lot of work ought to be ready to go to sea (as opposed to up and down the coast) by the fall. Stay tuned.

And if anyone out there is familiar with these or their cousins, which re strikingly similar to the Hon. Ted Heath's old S&S 34, I'm hungry for all and any input.

Many thanks!

Don't know the boat, but good luck and keep us posted.

Pictures would be great. I love seeing unique designs.
