New to the Forums and MOSTLY New to Sailing

Howdy all,
Name's Diego, but my friends call me Sulley (long story).

I'm pretty much totally new at sailing. My only experience is a week after I graduated off the Outer Banks-that was some years ago.

Recently, after quite some time of looking, I've came across a (free) Bayliner. Haven't actually SEEN it yet-am going Saturday. Fella can't remember if it's 20 or 24 feet long, all he knows is it needs new sails, and needs a re-rigging job done.

Figured this place may be a decent learning tool for me-since this is going to be quite the project (both refitting her, and learning to sail her proper).

Anyway, that's why I'm here, now on to the bits no one really ever cares about (other than me):

I'm married, and have a beautiful daughter. I'm a semi-professional musician, and a full-time online student (simulation and game dev, for those keeping score at home).

I'm a collector of music instruments, sharp, pointed objects (swords and s'etch), firearms, and video games/systems.

I am NOT a regular forum poster on pretty much any forum I've ever joined. Normally, I post less than once a week. I just don't spend much time on the internet these days (yay for having a job)!

Anyway, I'm excited to learn as much as I can. I'll report back just as soon as I know more about this boat!

There she is...

Needs more work than I was led on to believe, but I'm not worried. I've got all the time in the world to fix her up.

Ship like this, be with you till the day you die.

She may not look like much, but try to see around that. Try to see past what she IS, and on to what she CAN be.

I know it'd probably be cheaper to just buy a Buccaneer outright than try and repair this one (the inside is totally trashed-will have to rebuild every bit of cabinet, furniture, berthing, the works), and some of you may even think it's not worth it.

But she's mine. Free and clear, she's mine. And she floats like a dream. I could slap an outboard on her tomorrow, and cruise around the lake with no worries.

I will be posting pictures in the relevant forum as the process goes-it's going to be slow, aye, because I've not much spare time, but it's perfect for me.

And I guess now that I HAVE a boat, I'm a full member?
