Regards from Salem, MA

Hi all. I have been searching these forums over the last year, hoping to learn enough to keep my new boat afloat. So far so good. Hoping to give back a little bit, but I can't post project pictures until I have 10 posts. So, here goes.

Hello and welcome to sailnet. I'm in Salem too, although I keep my boat up in Portland (at least for now).

Re: Regards from Salem, MA

Welcome Neo! I once bought a boat that was sailed out of Salem, Lady B.....had Salem on the hull, under her name. Everyone done in Boston harbor used to ask me if I was from Salem, and I would reply....no, but my grandmother was....n grandad used to say "and they never got round to burnin' her at the stake", which I belatedly realized that Salem folks had been hearing stuff like that for centuries n wisely decided to shut my gob....as my Irish family likes to say! Good luck with your project! I just finished a year long refit on y seaward pocket cruiser. Fair winds......

Re: Regards from Salem, MA

I sailed out of Boston for a number of years and consider it my home port, but Salem has an abundance of moorings at a somewhat reasonable price, so I ended up there last year.

I am still looking for a town somewhere in Massachusetts that is less than 10 miles from a good harbor and less than 10 miles from my work. The problem is, I work pretty close to Boston, and I hate long commutes.
