I have been a member on the forum for a few months, but have not posted primarily because I have not had a lot to share. But since I have posted a review on a sailing class that I took over the New Year, I thought it might be a be a good idea to post a little about myself.
I have sailed small boats for most of my adult life, on and off, my favorite was a Vanguard Volant that I loved and raced for many years.
In the past few years, life got in the way and between getting married, having kids and working several jobs, I had gotten away from my sailing.
A few years back I picked up a used Chrysler Mutineer and sailed it for several years. But last year, I was given the chance to race aboard a Farr 395 out of the Milwaukee Yacht Club. That really reignited my passion for sailing and I decided that one of my goals for 2013 was to charter a boat in the Apostle Islands.
But first I knew that crewing on a race boat taught me a lot, I needed some basic big boat sailing time and instructions on cruising a large boat so that I didn't damage anything or injure my family. So I researched sailing schools and found that Blue Water Sailing out of Fort Lauderdale met my needs.
I scheduled a class over the New Year's holiday and.... Well the rest is history, you can read my review for my thoughts on the class.
Suffice it to say that I feel much more competent on a big boat and while I have a lot to learn, I feel that I can now safely set about chartering in the Apostles with my family this summer.

Re: Checking In
Be sure to pick a charter with good motor skills as the wind is limited altho the sights are not!...........Dale
Re: Checking In
Thanks for the tip, I was looking at Superior Charters, have heard good things about them and their boats seem solid.
