Greetings from Montgomery Ala
My wife and I moved aboard our 26X Macgregor , last july . We have been planning this for many years .
The last two years have been spent refitting our Mac for fulltime living . Modified the head for showers 40 gallons of water and electric pump Queen size V berth stern berth now a cargo hold 4 batteries , two start , two house batteries . two Yeti coolers under the table Engle freezer Much more She is solar powered , three cells provide 13 amps in good sun . This powers our boat and the freezer . She has a Honda 50 outboard that provides the propulsion on the river and additional electricity . We have limited sailing experience , but on our two (so far) cruises to the Gulf of Mexico we have learned to sail her . Due to family obligations we have only made to short cruises to the Gulf , about 6 weeks each . This March (2013)we plan to leave on a year long cruise to Key West . All advice welcomed ! Re: Greetings from Montgomery Ala
Welcome aboard!! So exciting that you are leaving in March. We hope to be behind you come Oct or Nov. or definitely by 2014.
Do you have an itinerary planned out to where you'll stop at night along the way? Will you stay at marina's or will you be anchoring? Have fun! |
Re: Greetings from Montgomery Ala
Hey Magnolia ,
Where are you leaving from ? We anchor out and stay in marinas . From Montgomery Al , our next major stop is Dog River in Mobile Bay Cross the bay into the ICW , heading east . We plan to do the short crossing from Carrabelle to Steinhatchee River Then river hop down the western coast . |
