Greetings,

I am new to sailnet, sailing the galveston bay area in a 1984 bayfield B32C. She recieved a good refit in 2003 and is in pretty good shape except for the sails so I am in the process of replacing the main first. so far I am thinking loose foot with some type of boom mounted sailbag/jack system. For the most part we do day sailing and coastal cruising, but in the fall and winter we can get a pretty good blow on 25 to 30 if your out for the weekend and need to get back for work you have to go ahead and get home so something tough is important and one that will last. Also considering moving the boom up a few inches to give a little more room or someone recomended cutting the sail up a bit at the clew to allow more room. then there is the full vs partial batton question, I am leaning toward full for better performance when its light wind in the summer and less wear on the sail. any discussion or important things to consider at this time would be welcomed.

Todd

Hi Todd,

Welcome to the asylum! Pudding painting at 6:45.

Bayfield 32 . . . I saw a write-up on the in Sail mag a year or so ago. Great Lakes Canadian company as I recall. They have a real solid reputation, a fine boat. I think it's cutter rigged? Nice boat. Post pics and keep us posted!
