Greetings from Annapolis, MD

We are fairly new here in MD. Moved up from New Bern, NC back in October, 2012. Fiancé is in the Marine Corp and was transferred to the Pentagon. Not the best commute in the world from Annapolis, but we couldn't really find a marina on the Potomac that we were thrilled about as we are live aboards. Port Annapolis is a really nice marina. We also wanted to be near the Chesapeake so we can truly learn how to sail our boat. Fiancé has lived on it for about 3 years and I have only lived here about a year. This spring and summer should be fun!!! We find these forums to be extremely helpful and most beneficial.....and quite entertaining!

Welcome to SailNet & Maryland. If you have a chance, come to the Chesapeake SN Rendezvous in June, great way to meet folks in the area.

Re: Greetings from Annapolis, MD

Hi Shawn, thanks for the welcome! I was actually communicating with Chef2sail this morning and he invited us to attend this. As far as I know, we should be able to make it and look forward to meeting new people, hearing stories and networking! This sounds like a whole lot of fun. thanks for the warm welcome.

I've had the honor to teach some folks at the Pentagon, Air Force Executive Dining Room staff and Joint Chiefs Executive Dining Room staff...it was an awesome experience.

Thats a hike from Annapolis! Ouch

Re: Greetings from Annapolis, MD

that sounds pretty cool and a great experience for sure. The Pentagon is a huge place! Ouch is right on the commute....Kris says the ride there in the morning is not so bad, probably because he leaves so early, but the ride home really sucks and traffic is crappy. We felt like this was the closest, and nicest marina on the Chesapeake so thats why we chose PA. We looked at a few others, like Herrington Harbor (N&S) and while they are equally nice, just not sure if the commute would be any better. So we are camped out here for a while and enjoying it so far.

Re: Greetings from Annapolis, MD

Welcome to the area, I'm sure you'll meet the fellow posters from PA shortly. I'm up stream off the Magothy River - looking forward to meeting you in June.

p.s.
That commute gets even messier on the way home come summer. Map out ALL the alternatives before then

Welcome (we need more better looking people on this forum, although we are not by any means elitists)!
