New Sailor Looking for Experience in Southern Caribbean / South America

Hello!
I'm brand new to sailing, but I'm really excited at the prospect of getting on the water. I've grown up around the coast, in Anchorage, Alaska (where I'm from, but not currently located), but never had much of a chance to get on the water.
This December I got on the water in the Puget Sound and loved it. I am SUPER motivated to learn, and would have loved to stay on with my skipper and learn more from him, but I was just about to start a five month trip in South America (i.e., Ecuador, Colombia... maybe Panama and hopefully some island hoping from Trinidad and Tobago northward).
SO, if anyone knows anyone that would like to take a really enthusiastic (but not zealous) novice sailor out on the ocean for a few weeks (I'm dedicated!) please don't hesitate to contact me. OR if you have recommendations for sailing schools in Colombia, Panama, or up the Caribbeans, let me know. I've been looking for a while, but haven't found much useful information. I'm also learning to dive, if that's useful.
A couple more things about me: I'm a biologist, 29, in good shape, can swim, am pretty mellow and like good conversation. I also know some Spanish.
Cheers!
Jason
