hello from ludington, mi

Hey I decided to join this forum, looks like lots of useful information. I am finishing building my latest boat, a 25' "Mackinaw" boat that I will be cruising the Great Lakes in starting this summer. After sea trials we plan to cross over from Ludington to Sturgeon Bay, WI and cruise up Green Bay to Fayette, MI then over to Beaver Island and back down the Michigan coastline to Ludington. I was going to post a few pictures of the boat but apparently I need 10 post first? Anyway, here is link to my photobucket page with my build photos. oops, can't do that either. Oh well...

Nice!
From what I understand a Mack is NOT an easy build. You must have a lot of boat building experience.

Nice cruising grounds, made it to Fayette two years ago. Just like stepping back in time to the turn of the (last) century.

Enjoy yourself.

BTW, there are several threads around here that can quickly build your post count.

Re: hello from ludington, mi

Thanks sailortjk1, I started my build 2 years ago. I have just finished glassing over the cabin and deck, need to fair it some more. I need to finish the cockpit area, I reworked the plans so it is self bailing and that has been quite a challenge. The sails just came in this week, I need to get sitka spruce for the spars and build them up as soon as the weather turns. I'm probably at 75% done, lots of little things though.

Sa-weet!
You are going to be a real head turner. The only problem is half the knuckle heads out there don't know what a Mackinaw boat is.

Actually, most I have seen are open and were used for fishing. I guess if you are going to cruise the Great Lakes a place to get out of weather is necessary.

Nice build.
