Remove and replace headliner

I have a 1980 30 Citation that appears to have an issue with the compression post under the mast - I just bought the boat. I would like to remove the headliner to get access to the top of the compression post to see what is going on. My headliner is in excellent shape so I would like to reinstall it after I've made the repair. Can anyone give me some pointers as to how to take it down without destrying the headliner? not sure if it's the same as my 41 however here it goes. i have removed portions of mine to remove deck gear . CAREFULLY remove the wood trim around the headliner . the headliner is held in place with monel staples which easily pull out. this will give you access to the under side of the deck. the trick to reinstalling it is to CAREFULLY stretch the headliner to not have any wrinkles . take your time.
