1984 31 Citation Icebox Upgrade

One of my spring projects is to add refrigeration in the icebox. Before I decide on what unit to use I am trying to determine the maximum insulation I could install (assuming that there is minimal to begin with) on the exterior of the existing box or whether I am better of cutting out the existing lining and rebuilding the box smaller but with better insulation. Has anyone added refrigeration on their 31 Citation and, if so, can they provide any info on insulation, unit used, experience with unit, etc.
