I'm Back

Dear List,

Casa Mare' has just returned to the States from wintering in the Exumas. It was a glorious adventure and I'm back to prepare the boat for next years cruise. The Citation 35 performed flawlessly and sailed wonderfully in all kinds of conditions.

I sure did miss the camaraderie of the Irwin list, but due to the lack of availability of wifi I had to limit my email traffic.

I do have one question of the Citation 35 owners. The sales brochure for the 35 lists the fresh water capacity as 75 gallons. I could never add more than 40 gallons to the tank. At up to $.40 a gallon you keep track of the water you use.. I have two tanks, One at each end of the dinette which are connected together. What happened to the other 35 gallons? I know the tanks were empty before I filled them.

I am in Ft. Pierce, Fl. now and headed back to Beaufort, SC for the summer.

Almost glad to be back.

Welcome back. When you say (2) tanks, I'm confused. Under the dinette on mine the tank wraps around under the seat with baffles between the forward leg and center section as well as aft leg. There are drains on both the foward and aft legs as the tank floor rises up towards the hull and water would be trapped in the forward leg. I never measured the volume of mine but I did clean out the diesel tank last year, which is supposed to be 35 gal and it only took 27 to fill it. Could this be a trend. I noticed the specs on the 38 said it held less water than the 35 and I thought that was strange. Maybe that one is right. When I clean my water tank out this spring I'll check it. But when you say two tanks, doesn't yours wrap around???
