Irwin Citation 34 Inner Forestay

My Irwin has an inner forestay AND roller furling. I'm thinking the inner stay is for a storm jib?? It looks like an add-on system and I don't see an inner forestay on the line drawings for the citation. If someone who has used his forestay could enlighten me it would be appreciated. It sure seems in the wrong place with the roller furling.
