Hello, reinstalling my rudder after repairing and looking for the same part for my 1984 Irwin Citation. Because this post is 8 years old, wondering if anyone has any recent information or source for this part? Meanwhile, I will try the phone # above tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed they can help me.
Thank you all for the suggestions! I called McMaster, sent them a picture, but they did not have the part.
Called Western Yacht yesterday, emailed the pic. So far, no response. A trailer roller might work but would need to fit a 1.25" shaft. Keep the ideas coming, appreciate the help...
Thanks Dale, will keep that in mind. Found a solid brass one on the Algonquin site. If the OD works out with the bracket that fits around it, just need to band saw it in half as the bracket will hold it UHMWPin place. Meanwhile, keep the ideas coming and thank you!
Appreciate all the help! I wanted to let anyone with a similar issue with an Irwin 34 split rudder bearing know, how I resolved this. First, go to the link: http://www.irwinyachts.com/Rud_CB/rsgen.html
Next, using the drawing from the link above, I had a friend with access to a machine shop make the split bearing out of solid brass. I provided the old bearing and the bracket that fits around the bearing, which attaches to the stern, for reference. See attached pics. The machinist drilled and tapped the two halves to use 4 standard size #10-32 x 3/4" stainless machine screws. I will complete the project using the directions from the Irwin link above and post a picture once completed. Please note that because my friend used materials on hand, there is no cost to publish. Thus, recommend getting quotes from a local machine shop regarding cost. Also note that using solid brass for material was the choice of my machinist friend, and is not from original nylon used by the manufacture. Stay tuned for an update once rudder is reinstalled.
