outboard for Irwin28
 

My atomic 4 inboard died and to repower the inboard would be out of the budget. Im looking install a motor mount on the stern and purchase an outboard. Found a good deal on 8hp Mercury. Would that be enough power to push an Irwin 28 CB ?

Anybody know how to determine whether 8hp outboard would be enough power to push an Irwin28? The boat is in a creek off of a tributary of the Chesapeake. During the summer mostly light air conditions exist.

hi there, i have a 28 too, mine is mounted just above the cockpit drain hole
and it can be a !@#$% to pull start it from down there, i have a long shaft 9.9 and if i had my way i would prob go extra long with the same mount location. what happened to your A4? there not to bad to rebuild. i did mine for about 1000 including machine work i have 3 so if you need something let me know

diverdad69, I Have an Irwin 28 CIB "Express" did you say you have 3 atomic 4s? Mine rusted through the waterjacket floor into the crank case. Could I convince you to sell one of your A4s?Pater
