Swim Deck Design
Something everyone with an older IP seems to want is a swimming platform on the back. I've decided to design and build a wooden deck off the transom of my 1991 IP35. Does anyone have any ideas, links, pictures, etc of a good swim deck design? Does anyone think that a fixed platform (i.e. not collapsable or removeable) is a bad idea? After I compile some clever ideas and create a design, I'll be sure to post it here for others. Thanks!

Not an IP, but my wife has been after me to install a swim platform on our Nauticat. This idea is complicated by the canoe stern, but actually available through the builder.

A stainless frame is certainly better than an all wood platform - Food for thought.

To begin answering my own question, here is a link to 15 photos of IPs (2 38's and a 40) with aftermarket swim decks:

(uh, looks like I'm not allowed to post a link yet, you'll have to cut and paste this)

I guess the first question to be answered is how often would you be using it? One of the things I like about the older design is that there is no swim platform. If I'm going to drag around another couple of feet dedicated to an infrequently used swim platform I'd rather have it in the cockpit or cabin. Admittedly, if I was further south, I might look at it differently.
