IP 31 water tank

I have a 1987 IP31 with the bow mounted fresh water tank. It was leaking so I removed it. I cut it in several peaces and put it in my back yard. Well someone stole it for scrap I guess and I had not measured it. So what I need is a measurement of the original or if some one has used a smaller one. Where did you get it and what size fit. Many thanks

Re: IP 31 water tank

Did you ever get those measurements? I just purchased a 1987 IP31 and the original 70 gallon tank was removed and replaced with a 25 gallon rectangular tank. I need to install a more substantial tank as I will be using the boat for extended cruising and I want to make sure that I get the specs correct.

Re: IP 31 water tank

Interesting coincidence, but I had a new aluminum tank fabricated and picked it up today. It's the shape of the v berth, but I couldn't make it as deep as the original 70 gallon because it wouldn't fit through the v berth door. I read that those original tanks were built into the boat before the cabinetry, etc was installed. The one I had made is only 46 gallons.

Thanks I forgot about the cabin door. All I measured was the companion way. Your right it would not fit. I did get measurements from a guy that had a plastic one made. Sorry for the delay

Re: tank

What I would like to do since the new one just drops through the hole is to make it in two halves. it could be larger and fit under the lip. the first half would be pushed forward under the lip and would be wider for a water tank. the back half would be a larger holding tank. I could then use the old holding tank spot for may A/C if I get it figured out I will post more.
