What do you think of this deal

IP35 1990 very clean boat. Electronics about 6 years old, bow thruster, windlass,

Tanks are original, sails original.

Asking 119,500. What do you think it is worth?

A link to the listing is helpful. Price comparisons truly depend on the boat and it's complete condition.
22/23 year old sails don't bode well for overall maintenance.

That's a question for which you shouldn't expect an answer other than from someone who has actually walked on the boat and knows what he or she is looking for and at.

Where will you be sailing? Idaho?

1990 Island Packet 35 Sail Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com

Will start out sailing in the NW then onto to more distant destinations. DFerron, I am not asking for specifics. There might be people who can say via experience, if it is in line or the price is not realistic.

Sails have been taken off the boat and stored during the off season, so they are in remarkably good shape. Maintenance looks to be up to date. The boat is extremely clean and in good condition.

Will need new sails, rigging redone and some newer electronics, hydrovane before heading out. Looks to be a comfortable boat to live on as well.

Deal fell apart on the last $6,000. Offered to split it with him, no deal. Sometimes you feel like you are trying to hard. Whenever I get that feeling, it is time to walk away.

Re: What do you think of this deal

It actually seems to be very well equipped and in good shape, and listed at an average price for the other boats on YW. Of course you could take a look at one of the cheap listings and see how the boat compares. The dink, the comprehensive fairly new electronics, the bow thruster, all point to a better than average boat and a higher than average price.

"Deal fell apart on the last $6,000." What last six thousand? Six from his listing, or six between a lowball and what he was asking? Either way there seem to be a number of them out there, the only questions are condition, and location. If a boat is on the right or wrong coast for you, that can be a fast six grand just to relocate it.

I coughed up the last 6K and he threw in all the boat eqpt, dingy and motor. We have a deal, on to the survey.

Duckwheat, how goes it with the IP35? It looks like a sweet deal to me. Are you going to take it back to ID or leave it out there?

Re: What do you think of this deal

I close IP35 on Monday. It appears to be a more detailed process than buying a house.

We are keeping the name Vagabon, home port is McCall, ID. It will remain on the Ballard, WA.

It is a remarkably clean boat, and I feel fortunate to get her.

If you are ever out our way look us up.

DW/Dave

S/V Vagabon, yee haw!
