3rd Canadian Rendezvous - Genoa Bay

The 3rd Canadian Islander Rendezvous
July 6th, 7th, & 8th
Genoa Bay Marina
Vancouver Island
B.C.
Yes, there will be a 3rd Canadian Islander Rendezvous in July of 2007. The
1st Rendezvous's were so much fun, Bert & Carey decided I had volunteered to
put one on this year in Genoa Bay (Greg and Leslie Mathews). I don't know
if we can meet the expectations that the previous years success's demand,
but we're going to give it a worthwhile effort. If you didn't make it to
the previous Canadian Islander Rendezvous, thanks to webmaster and
Rendezvous participant Rick Van Mell, the Islander 36 Association out of San
Francisco have posted last years story on their web site at 'http://www.islander36.org/genoabaydetails07.html
Lots of photos!
The 2007 edition will be at Genoa Bay on Vancouver Island. If you've never
been there have a look at http://www.genoabaymarina.com/. An even more
idyllic setting in the beautiful Island, a great weekend destination.
Participants will have to make their own reservations with Will or Laura at
746-7621 or 1-800-572-6481. I am not sure of the rates at this time; but it
is about $1.05/foot plus $3 for power.
Just like past years, boats will probably begin gathering on the Friday
evening for an informal gathering over a glass of wine. Saturday there are a
number of options with most participants meeting other Islander owners and
showing off their boats. Someone may organise a short fun race on Saturday?
There is a short van ride in to the town of Duncan, or a walk along country
roads. Whatever your desires, we have reserved the pavilion for the
Saturday evening dinner. (Will be in need of BBQ's at this time, as there is
only one portable BBQ at Genoa Bay). Leslie & I will be supplying
everything but whatever it is you wish to barbecue. We ask everyone to bring
an appetizer. If you were there last year, you know what that can be like!
Bring your own plates and cutlery!
For Sunday morning we'll have the coffee urn fired up nice and early along
with sticky buns and muffins. As in past years, we're going to try to keep
the costs to a minimum. We hope to see many friends at this event, and would
like to meet new Islander owners as well.
I will be posting more information as July approaches.
PS. If this looks very familiar, it is Bert's e-mail from last year with a few changes. I hope Leslie and I can meet the expected results from the great get together's from previous years. Any ideas or comments then please get back to me.
