Seeking input from others who've painted their decks

Hello Islander folk!

Hal from MN here looking for input from those who've painted their decks.

No amount of scrubbing or application of New Glass is going to bring the GelCoat back on my deck. So, it's time to paint.

My juxtaposition is this: I'm wondering if painting the non-skid with the conventional 2 part LPU (Awlgrip, Sterling, etc.) will fill the non-skid surface to the point where it's non-skid properties will be significantly reduced- thereby necessitating that a special non skid paint product be used (?) I would not prime the non-skid areas, so there would not be any additional "build" there.

If I did need to use a non-skid paint, I'd use either Dura-bac or the New Zealand product, KiwiGrip.

Would appreciate hearing from owners who have painted their decks and whether or not they felt they had to modify the non skid areas w/some type of grip product.

Many thanks for all input!

KiwiGrip

I was thinking about using Kiwigrip. I have tried to talk with the distributer in Seattle, with no luck. I have the same questions. If I find out I will post.
