Leaking fuel tank, Bahama 30

Anyone had to replace the 20 gallon (US) fuel tank on a 1978 Islander Bahama yet? I've developed a pinhole leak somewhere near the top of the aluminum tank. Can't see it, can't reach it. I know it's on the starboard side near the quarterberth as it leaks on a port tack going to weather. The tank needs to come out. The question is, will it come out through the cockpit locker? It appears to be too wide to fit through the engine compartment once the MD7A has been removed.

I replaced the fuel tank on my 28 Islander with a 12 Gal Monel ($112). I had to cut down a plywood wall about 5 inches in order to get the new tank in (through the port lazzarette) and also lower the platform it sat on because the new tank was taller. The old tank was also leaking on top and would be much worse on a port tack. It was not an easy job and the final result is not as good as I would like, however, there is no more fumes and it works great.
