Islander 28: Traveler

We bought our Islander last November and are still working out the kinks. We have noted that how the traveler has been rigged is not very effective. In heavy wind it is basically inoperable. Does any one have an Islander 28 traveler rigged that functions well? Any advice would be very much appreciated! I'm thinking we'll likely add blocks for more purchase and also minimize the friction we currently have. I've seen a couple of other Islanders travelers rigged differently - I'll post pics of those too.

Thanks!

Alan

*Here is our traveler:
The two lines leading aft come to cleats on either side of the companionway.

You can up the purchase of what you have but it will never perform as well as the Harken setup in the second pics.

To REALLY improve things your really need a better track/car system too. About half a boat buck probably all round. Try Garhauer too.
