PUMP Out issue with 33i

I have to hold my hand over the holding tank vent to pump out - what is my problem

I will say if you cover the vent you run the risk of imploding the tank so don't do that. The line for the pump out should lead to the bottom of the tank and air should only be able to be drawn into the vent by the drawing out of the effluent. There must be a leaking connection somewhere that will not allow the vacuum to form. I would suspect the fitting between the hose leading to the holding tank, then the fitting between the pump out port and the pump-out hose. Is the suction on your hand strong? How old is the boat? Has anyone done any work on it? Has it always done this? Is there any odor in the boat near the holding tank or pump-out fittings. When they are pumping out have someone go below and see if they can hear any hissing. Perhaps someone reconnected the hose incorrectly when working on it?

She is a 2010
I did replace the manual head this spring and will inspect all clamps again
The vacuum is strong at the vent
No odors

Are you sure you have the Y valve in the correct position, and the pumpout seacock closed?
