I have a new 42DS being delivered in march next year. Any one had one delivered recently ? any problems to look out for ?

the jeanneau owners are world wide and fairly active and there are a few ds42 owners on it -- i have a ds40 and got it new and my only advise is to check all the nuts and bolts - we almost lost our boom when a nut came off -- also be prepared to clean the bilge screen a lot as it will get filled with shaving ect from the building process.

I have had the 40 DS for 5 years and just traded it in for the new 42 DS which will be delivered in April 07 at a hefty surcharge. (I guess I had to many extras installed on my 40 DS, for which nobody is going to pay any extra money in a second hand boat). But I must say, I have been entirely satisfied with the 40 DS for the last 5 years. It is just that my wife liked the owners quarters on the new 42 DS better. And to keep her happy - which is not easy when the wife is not as keen as sailor as the husband - I bought it.

I took delivery end of July 06. First one in RI. Be happy to discuss everything.

Also I'm hooked up with many owners in USA. Mike Collins has the first one in MA. He got his in June.

I am having problems with my 42ds. Poor gelcoat to the hull and deck (hole appeared) Stress cracks on the coach roof, pin holes to hull and the stern is very vulnable and so too is the rubbing strake (well there isn't one!) and Jeanneau are not being helpful. I personallu wouldn't buy another. I have had three Jeanneau#s now and think I will sell now and try Elan next.

great move- we know a few people who steered away from the 42DS and went with the Elan 434- much superior boat!!

We have sold dozens of Jeanneau's in the past two years and have excellent support from the company and very few owner issues.

I feel the dealer support is always key on any new boat and that will vary from location to location. It is too bad that the 42DS owner in the UK had such a bad experience.

Every Jeanneau buyer we have loves his boat.
