When I would try to furl-in my mainsail on my SO36i the lower one foot of the mainsail would catch on the edge of the mast. I told the dealer about this problem and last Thursday the technician really tightened up the mainsail halyard. It was easier to furl in the main after sailing on Saturday. I feel that the halyard is way too tight and leaves a (wavy) wrinkle in the leech all the way up the mast.

On the other hand, I have furled-in the main with on tension on the out-haul. The rolled sail takes up too much space in the mast and causes it to jam in the mast.

The continuing adventures of a new sailor...

I have no problems on my 43DS as long as I keep adequate pressure on the outhaul when furling back in.

the problem is when you roll the sail into the mast. If not done properly, it will go in easily but jam when unfurled.
