jackdale will become famous soon enough
yes.

Just taught a 7 day Yachtmaster Offshore / Advanced (sail) course. On the water Friday Saturday Sunday to teach a Coastal Skipper (power) course. I expect the next one will be much more comfortable.

Pumped up the dinghy Sat. and go the motor running.... first couple of pulls

Put the sails up Sun. am, with a little anxiety as the main wouldn't go all the way to the top, but after pulling down and re-hoistng got it up and rigged. With lots of daylight and and good breeze... we just had to go out for a shakedown. Winds were 10- 15 knots but gusting to 20, made an interesting sail. Managed to 7.2 knots at one point but for the most part did - 6.5 knots, got tired of fighting the gusts so furled the jib, reefed / furled the main down some and cruised along at 4.5 - 5 knots

Was good to get out for that first sail after a longggg winter.

Water was very cold and was extra carefull going out on deck. The CG pulled a body from the bottom of our bay couple weeks back after a late night return from the bar went bad.

Well here it is June 5 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Scattered frost last night. When do we get our fair share of this "global warming"? I have the mizzen painted and outdoors. Will start putting the hardware back on tomorrow.

Days of work cleaning mud, shells and barnicles out of the CB trunk with band saw blades and a fwe warm days finally allowed the CB to drop. It looks pretty rough so I had a mechanic in our shop make the special tools to back the swing pin out. Turns out the 5/8 lift cable was shredded. The board will fall out when the yard takes the boat indoors to Awl Grip the sides. Just too much uncertainty to ignore the oportunity to fix it right.

I meet a SS bright work craftsman tomorrow to get him started on pulpits to replace the hurricane wrecked parts.

We made the forst pass at stripping and priming the main mast last week. Beginning to look better already. It will take another day at least to prime the rest of it. it weighs about 980 # so rolling it on the horses is tough.

After Awl Grip, the re-assembly begins. Stanchions, Pulpits, Masts and then - finally, we can put the head liners back up. Look forward to a tidy interior.

Not launching this year. - sigh. All boats around me are in. The yard is about half empty. feeling kind of lonesome.
