Hey thanks for the offer! I may be calling you. The season is slowly coming to an end, but if I have a chance I will!

All is well, and I have learned a lot in the past few months. The only thing I have not used on my boat is the spinnaker/pole it came with. I really need a lesson with setup/how to use it.

Re: Advice for my Tartan 31

I think I'll take you up on that offer. I'm busy this whole weekend except Sunday, so maybe Sunday weather permitting we can go out for a sail? My boat is located at 31st st. harbor.

Re: Advice for my Tartan 31

Hi, my post is a little off topic but since there may be T31 owners here...I thought I would ask:
I am looking at a few Tartan 31s and T28s. One thing I am not sure about is the chainplate mounting in the 31. The 28, 3400 and others have the stainless steel strap to the hull.
How do the 31 chainplates mount? Is it just to the bulkhead? Is there a stainless strap in there too?
Anyone with problems at the chainplates?
Thanks
Dave

Pics here indicate they are attached to a main bulkhead, with SS backing plates of decent size.. look carefully at the picture of the head.

Re: Advice for my Tartan 31

thanks for your reply and for attaching the photo.
I do see that detail. I am also wondering if that is enough but most of these look fine even though most pictures are of boats from the 80s. I was hoping there might be a stainless anchor to the hull within the bulkhead.
Any 31 owners with any trouble or am I worried about something I should not be for this boat? I am hoping to make an offer and survey the boat I am interested in.
Thanks
Dave
