Re: Attach Rope to Becket?

Tie a bowline. most of the line we have these days is way stronger then needed in the size that is easy on the hands so even if the knot makes it half the strength of a splice it will still be way stronger then you will need. splice the end if you have an excess of time to work on boat projects

If you want to use a knot a halyard knot has the advantage of being shorter than a bowline. It will not untie very easy which in this situation is probably a good thing.

If you are creating a block and tackle system where you have two blocks one with a becket and one without and their is any chance the two blocks will get close to each other a short compact knot will allow them to get closer before something binds. It is called two blocking.

Learn how to splice and do it properly, takes up less space than a knot and once you've done it a few times it's pretty straightforward, will only take you 10 minutes and you'll end up with a much better and nicer looking result.

This seems like it would be the easiest. (Minus the knots) Any reference material on this?

Re: Attach Rope to Becket?

I thick a splice would be most appropriate. A short splice in 3 stand would allow blocks to ''chocka block' but braided line splice would require some clearance in the sheave and should be well stitched and seized to prevent working out the spice with constant flexing as it runs through the sheave.
