Traveling the ICW

Hi:

I sail a 1986 Hunter. I am planning a trip from Punta Gorda, FL to West Palm Beach, FL, going up the Caloosahatchee River through Lake Okeechobee. I understand their may be some obstacles for a boat with a 46'' clearance.

If anyone has taken that trip, do you have any tips, tricks or advice for the first time guy going through? Just sounds like a great trip!
