Catamaran vs trimaran

I'd like to learn and start sailing and I'm wondering the differences in handleing between a catamaran and a trimaran for a beginer?

Catamarans generally don't sail as well as monohulls, as they have a lot of windage and don't have a central pivot point. Trimarans tend to sail better than catamarans, and sail much like monohulls in terms of tacking and pointing. If you have specific questions, let me know via PM.

Those are relatively small sport trimarans and while a lot of fun, not really very useful as cruising sailboats go.

That's a disappointment.

I was hoping there'd be enough room for a water maker.

you could fit a watermaker on them....it'd have to be one of the Pur Survivor models, the 06 or 35, which are manually operated.
