I am a novice sailer as well. We stayed in the Outer Banks in Nags Head. They have a place right off mile marker 14 that rents and gives lessons. The boat we rented was a brand new 16 Cat. Prices were reasonable around 40 bucks for the first hour of rental. Have fun

The Wrightsville Beach area is very nice. I'm sure you can get some sailing lessons there. Good access to the ocean.

They also have rentals for after your lessons!

Enjoy a great cruising/sail area!
