Sailing School in Florida

I talked to them today....they seem great as well. I also ran across another approach. Charter the boat...pay additional for the captain and he/she will provide private sailing lessons, covering the things you want to cover. The price is about the same as the actual sailing program.

My wife and I did exactly that several years ago. We chartered the boat for 8 days and paid their captain's fee for the courswork. We used http://www.sailingflorida.com in St. Pete. They were great. We took ASA 101 and 103 in a 4 day package. We then chartered the boat (a Hunter 290) for an additional 4 days to practice what we learned. They were extremely helpful and supportive of this approach. Incidentally, I have chartered from them several times since then and they were great.

Sailing in Florida

Just finished a week combination lesson and bareboat charter with Southwest Florida yachts in Burnt Store Marina Ft. Myers. Two days with a captain and the rest of the week on our own. This was our 1st charter and these people are great. The boat was in great shape...the captain was very competent and they are exceptional to deal with. A great sailing vacation for my wife and I.
