Sailing Lessons Florida

We have just purchased our 1st boat, a Mirage 32, and are planning to take some hands on sailing lessons later this winter. We are looking at the Fort Myers area who seem to have a few companies who offer live aboard classes for couples. I was wondering if anyone has any experience or recommendations for sailing schools in Ft Myers.

Colgate? sailing school I believe is in Naples with a great reputation.
They had a big article on the sailboat review section on the water channel.
I can't remember the exact name of the school, but I remeber the Colgate 26 was designed by the owner of the school.

Thumbs up Sailing Lessons in Florida

If you don't mind driving across the state to Miami check this school out. For the liveaboard classes they only take two people. Mark called me back almost immediately after I requested information.

Good luck

LadyHawke2 -- i am on vacation but i believe i used fla sailing but out of burnt store marina - did the second 2 asa courses and learned a lot - had a great cap'n and he was an excellent teacher for my sig other and i and made sure we worked as a team not cap'n and crew - by the way after that course and a couple of charters i did buy my own 40' boat and took her from annapolis to her new home in miami and what i learned there was incredible - i have thought of hiring the cap'n again for some lessons on heavy weather sailing and to refine my skills as he was excellent
- if you need more i will be home on the 4th and can look up who we had
chuck and soulmates

I can't say enough good things about any of the J-world schools. Pat and I took their 5 day learn to sail class about 10 years ago and it was a hell of a learning experience. we'd reccomend them strongly. Jim L
