halyardz is on a distinguished road
Homemade LazyJacks

I''ve got a spare halyard, so my thought was to make lazy jacks from some 3/8" line. When
needed, attach it to the boom, then hoist with the halyard and lower the sail, then
properly flake it after the day''s sail. Anyone have any experience with such a system? Hints?

Normally Lazy jacks originate lower on the mast than a spare halyard would permit, but for incidental useage, it sounds like your idea should work. I am not a big fan of lazy jacks and have not really found them all that useful on a boast under 40 or so feet. Have you found that you really need something to temporarily gather up your sail?
