When a third reef is called for, its better to have a storm trisail rigged on its track and ready to go up.
Most manufacturers rig boats over 30 feet (that do not come with in-mast jambers...I mean furlers....) with an outhaul, two reef clew lines and two tack horns. One or two line reefing is an owner aftermarket customization. I have never seen a single-line reefing system that I really like; too much friction, and way too much line to haul and worse yet can't set up the luff tension separately from the foot/leech tension.
