Bought my first boat

Hello sailnet.
Been a lurker here for awhile now. But I finally did it. I bought a 1973 catalina 22. Its old but in decent shape so I can bang it around while I learn to sail it. I bought off Sailing Texas. Heres a link to my hole in the water. Catalina 22, 1973, Dallas, Texas, $3,400
I plan to learn on this for a couple years then maybe move on to a bigger, newer boat. But anyways Thats my 2 cents for the day.

Looks like a good deal. You're going to need a good bit of water to get it to float off the trailer. Choose your ramps accordingly. ie, they need to drop off fast.

Good Deal! I took that plunge not long ago and had a lot of hiccups here and there. But, now I can sail fairly well now. Thanks to these guys and a lot of books. Welcome to the club, and if you have anyquestions.... this place is definatley the best place to get help. The best people in sailing (probably the world) are just a post away. They are making my learning curve very enjoyable

I teach sailing now and then, but my best advice is,

"you learn to sail by sailing"

A 73 is a dream for most C22 folks. Reportedly the older ones are lighter and stiffer = faster. Enjoy it your new boat.

Just to check back in. Taken the boat out several times now. I got the boat rigged up so I can rig and sail the boat by myself. It takes me only about 30 minutes from the time i pull up to the ramp and I'm off sailing. It's been a blast so far, I really love the 20-25 mph winds healed over to about 25-30 degrees.
