If you had also managed to run aground into the mud and needed to sit there for 7 hours waiting for a tide to lift you clear you would have had the Complete Westernport Sailing Experience!

Glad you had a good time....And did not sail around from Corio!

That's one big advantage of a centreboarder. You hit bottom, wind up the board a bit and away you go, swearing to stay in the channel next time!!

..but, yes, that is one part of the Complete Westernport Experience I have so far managed to avoid. The race was cancelled, so we'll be back down there sometime in the next few weeks - and you just never know when one of those lurking, shifting mud banks will appear off the bow.

Lurking Shifting Mud Banks...Is that your pet name for all the Roberts 36's that seem to litter Westernport? (Some of them are ferrocrete too)

I hadn't thought of that - but I can see the resemblance!

There are certainly some nice boats on Westernport though.. we spent hours wandering Yaringa boat harbour dreaming about the next one.
